The word
"Shenandoah" was derived from the Native American expression
for "Beautiful Daughter of the Stars" The owner/builders
of the Timberpeg® home in Lovettsville, have merged the Pueblo
Santa Fe style with its soft, organic lines and rounded corners
and merged it with the classic, natural beauty of post and beam
architecture. As you
approach the home, you are greeted by a hand crafted wood door by
Gerry Brown at Floating World Design. The Southwestern style is
updated with large windows, high ceilings, and an open floor plan
with a river rock arch fireplace in the heart of the great room.
This home is a hybrid with Timberpeg Post and Beam as the central
portion of the home and two attached conventional wings. A Kiva
fireplace will add warmth and become the focal point of the Master
Bedroom. True to Southwestern style, rustic wood vigas procured
in New Mexico accent the front porch. The flooring is reclaimed
oak barn wood milled locally at Cochran's in Berryville. It is a
warm and very livable home but the Great room imbues a sense spaciousness
and drama due to a high ceiling and a pair of trusses that flank
a second floor catwalk and spacious loft. A walkout
basement tucked beneath the house takes full advantage of the natural
slope of the land. The owners have been very involved with both
the design and the building of the home and have really enjoyed
collaborating with their general contractor, John Gannaway at H.I.S
construction. This
home is a work of art in progress - View photos!
